hi there! :curtsy:

i am in the midst of teaching logic in my class. we'll be using political speeches and editorials from recent news media to study basic principles of argument (definition, euphemism, logical fallacies, etc.). i'll start them off with a speech by our governator and a published rebuttal of it, and then i am having them bring in their own materials as gleaned from current media. in the end, they'll pick one of the articles they've brought in to write their own rebuttal of. [yes, i teach english and just ended a sentence with a preposition; we're not all grammarians!]

so smart folks, where should i send them? i don't keep up with current media as much as i should [spank!].

i don't understand. RU from CAli? lol, only cali people refer to their govna' with the suffix "-nator". Send them where? As in, so they can get published?, printed?, or just seen?
    • hi there.

yes, i live in san francisco. our governor is the only one who appeared in the movie terminator as the terminator, so the nickname sort of fits.

they will be looking at a number of articles in recent news media to analyze for flaws in logic. then, they'll write a rebuttal of one specific article that they love to hate. they'll write it in the form of a letter to the editor. i just want to know what news outlets, online or in print, you all like to read or hate to read, so i have some ideas on which ones to suggest to them (i.e., where to send them).

      thanks for your time!
